How To Make Your Own Deodorant
This is a simple but useful guide on how to make your own deodorant at-home using safe non-toxic chemicals.
Some of you may have sensitive skin and it may be difficult to find a deodorant that doesn’t cause your skin to react.
Save yourself some time and money by making your own powerful homemade deodorant and you can even choose the scent.
You’ll only need a few items, and if you’re already into DIY, chances are you already have them in your home.
What You’ll Need:
2 tbsp. Coconut Oil
1 tbsp. Shea Butter
1 tbsp. Cornstarch or Arrowroot Powder
1 tsp. Beeswax
Lavender or Peppermint Essential Oil
Take a small sauce pan, and melt the coconut oil, Shea butter, and beeswax on low heat.
Once melted, stir and transfer to a glass container such as a mason jar, then add the cornstarch and baking soda.
Use a fork to mix to your desired consistency, then add a few drops of your favorite scented essential oil, using a fork to stir everything together.
Allow 10-15 minutes to cool, then mix once more until a smooth and creamy texture and use your two fingers to apply to your underarms.
This recipe works as a gentle but effective deodorant and doesn’t contain harmful ingredients that store brands typically use.
What’s great about this is you know what’s being put into it because you’re the one that’s making it! Plus, store bought deodorants usually last only a few hours, while this DIY trick lasts all day!
You’ll only need a small amount, so you’re going to have some leftover. Just twist on a cap and place it in a cool, dry place until your next use. You may have to mix up the mixture if it’s been sitting a while because the oils may separate, but using a fork works fine.
